The Recreation Center for Detroit is embedded within a undulating mega-surface, formed from a set of performative and programmatic logics. The structure thickens increases and aperture decreases as the surface meets the ground, and the undulations allow for double height programs to exist within the form. A public run/walk/bike concourse weaves between playing fields and fitness pavilions, connecting the project to Detroits emerging Riverwalk, and the greater context of the city. The inhabitable roof-scape is accessed via the low points of the form, and is a blend of landscape and hardscape.
